INTRODUCTION
Ron “Astro” Knott has
produced an outstanding collection of heart pounding, breathtaking, true, heroic stories of Navy and Marine fighter pilots
defying death, in and out of combat, and aboard aircraft carriers. We get a close look at the “Last of the Gunfighters”
– Naval Aviators flying the giant dynamite stick with the fuze burning, the vaunted Chance Vought F-8 Crusader. We ask
“Astro” to give us more exciting books of heroic, nonfiction, Naval Aviation stories like Supersonic Fighter Pilots.
– Ed “Mofak” Cathcart, LtCol USMC (Ret.)
Ron has composed gripping descriptions
of heroic fighter pilot stories that will keep you spellbound. Many of these daring adventures have never been told to the
public. – Captain Len Kaine, USNR (Ret.)
In Supersonic Fighter Pilots, Ron
reveals the excitement, heroism, fear, and proficiency of flying Navy fighters from the deck of attack aircraft carriers as
only a fighter pilot could. – Captain Jim “Fearsome” Foster, USN (Ret.)
Captain Ron Knott – After seven years active duty
with the Navy he flew for Delta Airlines for more than thirty years. As a businessman he developed over twenty real estate
projects, oil and gas, and sold imported and domestic luxury automobiles with his own company. He said, “The Navy taught
me multi-tasking in assigning me several duties at one time.”
Ron says, “I have never flown an airplane that I
did not like. However, after more than 20,000 accident-free hours of flying over
fifty years, none could erase the thrill of flying the Crusader. Supersonic Fighter Pilots is a book of heroes. In fact, more
than forty heroes are listed herein. We were all one bullet or one crash away from eternity.
