Knott events of the year were not as expected. You will note our change of address to Knott Court, but we did not move. Most of you not knowing that Knott Court is the same place that the Knott’s have lived for 25 years thought we had moved. We had not!

It was not Knott’s plan to move to Knott but knowing that Knott was not another house but the same one that Knott had lived in was not a bad move. Since this was not a move but an address change only we did not have all the problems associated with a move. Not knowing that this was not a move to Knott has caused confusion to many who are friend and who are not. Now we Knott’s are at Knott.

In mid-year my brother Roe Knott moved to south Texas. Needless to say the Postal Service was not ready for two Knott’s to change addresses in one year. Frequently we have not received mail for the right Knott. Not knowing that one Knott had not moved and one Knott had moved resulted in volumes of mail that was not sent to the right Knott.

The postal service asked, “Are you Knott or Knott?”

I said, “I am Knott but not the Knott that you are looking for. The Knott in question is not here.”

He said, “He is not?”

I said, “No he is Knott and I am Knott as well.” He did not understand.

I then tried to explain how not to get Knott confused with Knott. I told him we were Knott brothers.

He said, “You are not brothers?”

I said, “No that is not it, we are Knott brothers.” 

He said, “Really!”

I said, “In fact we are twins, born on the same day, in the same hospital, with the same father and mother, and we are Knott brothers.”

He said, “Which one is a girl?”

I said, “We are not different gender, but we are Knott brothers.”

“Who is not,” he said.

“We both are Knott,” I said.

He said, “If you are not brothers what are you?”

I said, “Knott twins.”

I could tell I was not getting through to him about the Knott family.

“Lord I do not believe that you are not brothers if you are twin boys,” he said.

“No, we are not brothers, we are Knott brothers,” I said. He did not believe me. I said, “It’s like I could be Smith but I am Knott.” This did not help!

I started a new company and called “Knott accurate accounting.” I could not get any customers so I started “Knott safe flying” with the same results. Knott just does not get any respect!

As an Airline Captain the senior flight attendant had to brief me on the conditions of the cabin before each flight. When she finished I would say, “Thanks, I am Knott the Captain.”

She would say, “Who is the Captain if you are not?”

I would say, “I am the Captain.”

She would say, “You just said you are not the Captain.”

I would say, “No, I said I am Knott the Captain.”

She would say, “Are you the Captain or not?”

I would say, “I am Knott.”

“Well then who is the Captain,” she would ask?

Showing her my name tag I would inform her that I am Captain Knott. I would also inform her that my first name was Astro. Most flight attendants had never flown with an Astro Knott.

All of the Knott’s, who are here and who are not, would like to wish you a great year.
